Help and Getting Started

Search a phrase at the top to see if it occurs twice or more in the KJV bible. The top 25 phrases closest in character length will be suggested and can be clicked on for a full list of verses the phrase starts in. The enter key or "Phrase's Verse List" button will alternatively use only the typed phrase to list it's verses.

1.       Begin by clicking on a book of the Bible:  i.e. Genesis      à the list of chapters for that book will appear

2.       Click on a chapter: i.e “1”             à the list of verses for that chapter will appear

3.       Click on a verse: i.e. “1”                 à the boxes to the right will be filled in: 

a.       Phrase List of multi-word phrases for that verse and their count will appear with “PREV” (Previous) and “NEXT” for each phrase

b.       New Testament reference to Old Testament (verses will have a green dashed border around them)

c.       Prophecies in the Old Testament fulfilled in the Old Testament are listed (if verse background is yellow)

d.       Prophecies of Christ (if verse background has a light blue background)

The Current verse will have a Red Box around it.

A link to the entire list is provided in the lower three boxes.

1.       List of Prophecies Jesus Fulfilled, put into catagories: 1-Title, 2-Lineage, 3-Birth, 4-Life, 5-Death, 6-Resurrection, 7-Post Resurrection Ministry

2.       List of OT Prophecies (this list includes when God Spoke, and when prophets gave prophecies)

3.       List of NT references to OT   (NT = New Testament, OT = Old Testament)

Recommendations:

·         Gen 4:8 the phrase “and it came to pass” has 396 occurrences, a very interesting study

·         Isaiah chapter 53 has all verses in light blue background for each verse has a link to the New Testament

·         Ezra 2:36 is a long phrase that spans many verses which are in Nehemiah 7:38 as an example.

Note: in the Bible Phrase List box: phrases that span from the previous verse have there back ground light blue.

Phrases that span into the next verse are in Green Text.

NOTE: In most browsers, using the “control-key” with the mouse wheel will zoom in or out on text size.

For the Technically inclined:

1.       All words are turned into low case for creating phrase list.

2.       All punctuation is ignored in making phrase list.  Thus, phrase can cross (extend) beyond the end of a sentence that has a “period”.

3.       Phrase can span verses; the verse boundaries are ignored.

4.       Phrases can span book boundaries.

5.       The software written in Python 3.7 was told to limit to phrases of 50 word or less, and had to have a minimum of 2 words,

6.       The first software took over 12 hours to run back in 2006 for the entire Bible.

7.       My son Danny re-wrote the phrase finder application in Python 3.7 which took 1 hour and 12 minutes to run.  He then optimized his program and was able to get it down to 3 minutes and 25 seconds.

8.       In the Phrase List box, the verse is shown with yellow highlight of the phrases in that verse.  The yellow highlight shown was derived from the phrase list for just that book of the Bible.  Whereas the phrase list is based on the entire Bible phrase list.

Comments:

There are many changes coming and a lot of clean up on the text in the four right sides boxes.
